How and where does the cross speak to you? Through this season of Lent at PVUMC, you are invited to meet Jesus at the cross. Come and meet the suffering servant. Know the faithfulness of Jesus in going to the cross, and the power of God’s saving love. Come meet the savior of the world.

Final-Words-PhotoshoppedBased on Adam Hamilton’s book, Final Words From the Cross, this blog of daily devotions will help guide you through the Lenten season, that begins with Ash Wednesday on March 5 and ends with Easter, April 20, Christ’s resurrection. Each writer (pastor, staff member or church member) has written a post based on a particular scripture, and provided a personal perspective to make us think and reflect on the significance of the words Jesus spoke during his final hours on earth, hanging from the cross. The book includes fictionalized first-person accounts of the witnesses to the crucifixion, helping us see the passion of the Christ in a new way – through the eyes and ears of bystanders. In addition to scripture, every devotion also includes a prayer and sometimes a video clip.

To receive daily posts, click “+Follow” at the bottom right-hand corner of the page, and enter your email address. To read the devotionals at the blog, simply click on the calendar in the sidebar to read the post for the day. We invite you to share these with your friends — via tweets, email and on your Facebook page. We also invite you to leave comments, especially if there’s a question at the end of the blog post. We hope this will be a way to share our personal Lenten experiences and invite others to do the same.
